ไม่ว่าจะเป็นความรักสามเศร้า  ดูซีรีย์ The Fall of the House of Usher (2023) หรือเรื่องอะไรก็ตาม ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในซีรีส์สยองขวัญสุดแปลกที่คอหนังสยองขวัญไม่ควรพลาด โดยรวมผู้เขียนมองว่าซีรีย์เรื่องนี้ค่อนข้างสนุกพอสมควร ตอนที่ดูนั้นเป็นเวลาที่ผ่านไปไวแปบเดียวก็จบแล้ว เวลาผ่านไปเร็วมาก สีของโทนเรื่องเน้นภาพสีมืดๆทึมๆให้เนื้อเรื่องในซีรีส์ดูลึกลับ แต่กลับไม่ทำให้พล็อตเรื่องหรือเนื้อเรื่องดูน่าเบื่อเลย แล้วทำให้เราอยากรู้คำตอบในตอนต่อไปมากกว่าเดิมว่าเกิดอะไรขึ้นกันแน่ในเรื่อง เรากำลังเจอกับอะไรอยู่ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นความโลภของคนในตระกูลที่เปลี่ยนเป็นความอิจฉาริษยากันจนกลายเป็นการฆาตกรรมกันแน่ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นเหตุผลทางปรัชญา มนุษยศาสตร์

 

วิทยาศาสตร์ หรือศาสนา ก็น่าสนใจทั้งนั้นในสายตาของผู้เขียน

 

เป็นซีรีส์ที่ได้ดัดแปลงมาจากวรรณกรรม House of Usher ของราชาเรื่องเล่าสยองขวัญชาวอเมริกันอย่าง เอ็ดการ์ อัลลัน โพ (Edgar Allan Poe) กำกับโดยผู้กำกับมือทอง ไมก์ ฟลานาแกน (Mike Flanagan) เล่าเรื่องการล่มสลายของตระกูลอัชเชอร์ที่ร่ำรวยมหาศาลจากบริษัทยาทุจริต Fortunato Pharmaceuticals เปิดซีรีส์ตอนแรกมาด้วยการโฟกัสไปที่ตัวละครหลักอย่าง ร็อดเดอริก อัชเชอร์ ที่เรียกตัวอัยการรัฐนามว่า ซี. ออกัสต์ ดูแปง มาฟังคำสารภาพของเขาเกี่ยวกับการตายแบบผิดธรรมชาติของลูก ๆ ทั้ง 6 คน หลังจากตระกูลอัชเชอร์ถูกรัฐบาลฟ้องว่ายาที่พวกเขาผลิตมีผลข้างเคียงร้ายแรง

 

ซึ่งเรื่องนี้ก็เช่นกัน โดยบทดัดแปลงจากนิยายดังของ Edgar Allan Poe ในชื่อเดียวกัน และกำกับ 4 ตอน (1,2,5,6)  ดูซีรีย์ The Fall of the House of Usher (2023) ซึ่งทำให้เรื่องนี้ก็ไม่ใช่ผลงานของเขาแแท้ๆ 100% ตามสไตล์ผลงานสมัยก่อนของเขาเช่นกัน ซึ่งตรงนี้บอกไว้ให้ผู้ชมเข้าใจกันว่า การปะชื่อหน้า Mike Flanagan ก็ไม่อาจจะการันตีมาตรฐานผลงานได้อย่างที่คาดหวังไว้นัก

 

ซึ่งผู้เขียนเป็นแฟนผลงานของเขามาตั้งแต่หนังโรง Oculus และก็ติดตามมาตลอดเมื่อเขาผันตัวมาเป็นคนทำซีรีส์ยาวหลายปี จนเหมือนจะไม่กลับไปทำหนังโรงอีกแล้ว (เจ็บหนักจากรายได้ของ Doctor Sleep) ซึ่งเอกลักษณ์ของเขาเลยคือ ประเด็นความเชื่อปรัชญาผูกผันเกี่ยวข้องเข้ากับเหตุผลวิทยาศาสตร์ ทำให้เกิดข้อถกเถียงต่างๆ เสมอมาในเรื่องราวแนวเหนือธรรมชาติทุกเรื่องของเขา
