Back in 2021, we reviewed Christmas With The Chosen: “The Messengers.” It gave us an intimate, courageous, and deeply tender look at what it was like for Joseph and Mary to find shelter before Jesus came. What will it be like? I won’t revisit that part of the story here. Instead, it will take you back to our original review. However, what may be new to many fans is “The Shepherd.” This part of the story introduces us to Simon. who were truly poor and humble shepherds.

 

You see, Simon is lame on one leg. He walks with a limp and uses a cane to support himself. He is a person who likes to joke nonchalantly. Even among fellow shepherds who are earthlings. They wanted nothing to do with him. By telling him to sleep with the sheep while they make crude jokes. Christmas with the Chosen Holy Night (mostly mocking the shortcomings of the Romans and Pharisees) around a campfire in the countryside

 

We also see Simon’s painful attempts to bring a lamb to be offered at the temple. It was a sacrifice that was violently rejected by the Pharisees who found blemishes on the animal. Indeed, flaw is the key word here. Like rejected animals that are not worthy of sacrifice. Simon was also rejected by everyone, but Simon was the closest to the miracle that would happen next. As Mary gave birth to Jesus in a dirty stable. A strong wind blows the shepherd’s torch.

 

 

Followed by a bright heavenly light in the distance, even though his legs were lame.

 

But Simon ran towards the light source. It was an equally humble manger where he and his fellow shepherds met the infant Jesus when Simon and the shepherds rushed into their village to share what they had seen. Simon ran in and hit the Pharisee for rejecting him. Christmas with the Chosen Holy Night “You!” the man said, “I told you not to come back here.” And where was he? Have you found a lamb without blemish to be sacrificed?” Simon just smiled and sang a Christmas carol.

 

As with the first Chosen Christmas special, the program included a number of artists singing Christ-centered Christmas songs, including Andrea and Matteo Bocelli; Brandon Lake; Zach Williams; Matt Maher; Phil Wickham; Maverick Urban Music; Brian and Katie Torwalt; Jordan Feliz; Bonner family; and the One Voice children’s choir. doomovie.win

 

 

Two monologues close out the show and the story.

 

One chapter from Amanda Jenkins (Dallas’s wife) and another from Chosen writer Tyler Thompson both reflect on the Jordan River as a metaphor for spiritual growth as well as a standard. Christmas with the Chosen Holy Night geography that was always present in the life of Christ “Like the ever-changing ripples of a river,” says Jenkins. “God moves. And that means we have to move to make room in our hearts. Do you have a room?”

 

Thompson later added, “Wherever you are this Christmas Be it in your very own Promised Land fresh water pool. Or drowning in the salty tears that won’t stop flowing from your eyes. Christmas with the Chosen Holy Night Or somewhere in between, life, Christ walking along these riverbanks sees you… whatever it is now. There will be peace within you and around you with gentle kindness. God and sinners will be reconciled.”
