Despite receiving a promotion, Val, a lonely grass-covered factory worker, attempts to commit suicide in the workplace toilet. But that was stopped when his bored co-worker entered the restroom singing “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive” to himself.

Val breaks up with his girlfriend Natasha and quits his job. After helping his best friend Kevin hide from the psychiatric hospital where he was placed after his attempted suicide three days earlier, Val tells Kevin that suicide is the answer.
